Traditional - This type of course will consist of student choice in-person or online lectures, pre-recorded lectures, and in-person mandatory practical skill days.

Hybrid - This type of course will consist of pre-recorded lectures, in-person/online review sessions, and in-person mandatory practical skill days. Amount of class days may vary on a weekly basis.

Partial Hybrid - This type of course will consist of a mix of live student choice lectures, pre-recorded lectures, in-person/online review sessions, and in-person mandatory practical skill days.

Skill Location Meaning - Dedicated Skill Locations: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Poughkeepsie. These locations are primarily designated for skills practice and exams, and will rarely host live in-person lectures. Lectures for students registered at these locations will be conducted via Zoom. Brooklyn and Manhattan students may be required to attend the Bronx location for the last two weeks to complete the course.

Course Description:

This course combines didactic, psychomotor lab and clinical observation to prepare students to provide emergency care to patients in the pre-hospital setting based on the scope of practice defined by the New York State Department of Health and U.S. Department of Transportation Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMT) curriculum. Emphasis will be placed on the recognition and treatment of life threatening emergencies. Topics to include: Well Being for the EMT, Medical-Legal Issues, Airway Management, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, Patient Assessment, Medical AND Trauma EMERGENCIES FOR ADULT, CHILDREN AND INFANTS, OBGYN and Operations.

NYS DOH EMS certified courses are required to conduct their courses for a minimum of 150 hours, Here at Code One we exceed those hours. Each of our courses run from 195-220 hours.

The Course includes CPR Health Care Provider Certification, which takes place within the first few weeks of the program.

STUDENTS WILL ALSO BE TRAINED IN:

  • NARCAN/ OPIOD OVERDOSE PREVENTION

  • BASICS OF Rescue Task Force/ ACTIVE SHOOTER PREPAREDNESS/ MCI

Midway through the course, students will go out on two 8 hour tours with SENIOR CARE EMS, Empress EMS or RCA ambulance.

(NYS DOH EMS Requires 10 hours of clinical rotation, Code One gets our students up to 24 hours of clinical rotation)

Students who successfully complete this course will be eligible to take the New York State Department of Health EMT-B Certification exam.

List of Prerequisites For Traditional Course Only: 

Students must reach their 17th birthday by the last day of the month in which they are eligible to sit for the NYS certification examination. 

You do NOT need diploma, ged, driver's license to enroll Our EMt training course and earn your certification.
